Thrush????

YESTERDAY I NOTICED MY NIPS STARTING TO BE TENDER & REDDDER/ SHINEY & TODAY I'VE HAD A FEW RANDOME SHARP PAINS WHILE BF'ING.  ZOEY'S TONGUE IS WHITE ON TOP, BUT I THOUGHT THAT WAS JUST MILK RESIDUE??                                                          * DO I CALL HER PEDI OR MY OBGYN.... OR BOTH?

    Can you wipe the white away with your finger? If you can, it's not thrush. You can't wipe away thrush it's like IN the tongue. not on the tongue

    If the white comes off her tongue then you can at least rule out that she does not have thrush.  However- you sound like you might have the onset of it...this happened to me.  I was sure something was brewing but LO had NOTHING.  I had what you have.  So I started to do vinegar rinses after EVERY feeding (tell me if yuo want more info), sterilizing everything everyday, and being super careful with washing and whatnot.  LO never got it and it never got worse than that. 
    Oh- and I used APNO - NO LANOLIN!!  And lot's of air drying too!!!  Yeast loved warm, moist and dark places!!

    I heard yogurt can help prevent it, but I just found a non-dairy yogurt I like... so I'll try to be better about eating that a few times a week once I get this all sorted out!  I hope we're like you and LO doesn't have it yet.  I'm going to try wiping it off her tongue when she's up tomorrow.

    I will just give it to you here..NBD-

    I took 1 cup water with 1 tbsp white distilled vinegar and out it in one of those squeeze bottles from the hospital.  I would squeeze it either directly on my nipples right after nursing EVERY TIME or put some on a cotton ball (sterile) and gently pat it on.  Then air dry.  The container lasted a few days so I didn't have to keep remaking it.
