I would like to get hers done when she is little. I am not sure when though, havent talked to dh about it. Probably at a year. I know that is controversial though.

Neriah can get hers done when/if she asks and when she's old enough to take care of them herself. I think it'll be a fun mother/daughter day when she's older.

When she asks for it and is old enough to care for them. I got mine done when I was 10.
I give up trying to get a ticker. I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome. Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself. Hmmm. How about...
"It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn't use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like "What about lunch?" - A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh
I am having a boy, but I have a 1 year old DD. I love the look of peirced ears, but I think we'll wait until she wants it and asks for it, and use it for something "big", like a birthday thing or something.
We plan on piercing Kyndel's ears early on, probably 2-3 months. I want to do it when she is too young to tug and pull at them so that I can ensure that they heal properly. And if later in life she chooses not to wear them, then she can just take them out.
DH is strongly against baby girls getting their ears pierced. I did not get mine done until I was 13 and in DH's family girls usually got them around their first communion, so 7-9 in age.
I bawl when my baby has to get her shots, and those are a necessity...I personally can't imagine putting her through the pain just so she'll look cute. If it was a cultural thing, that's another story.
Anyway, I'll let my daughters get their ears pierced when they're old enough to ask and take care of them. I think 8-10 is a good age.
I will be letting her decide. It is her body, and I will let her decide. I had a friend in high school who never got her ears pierced because she never wanted it done.

I will let dd get her ears pierced when she asks to have it done and is able to care for them herself. Not sure what age that will be.
This, although we aren't sure if this LO is a girl or not. I was 8 when I got mine done and I remember it as a special event, as my mom let me get them done just before school started that year. I don't know if I was responsible enough to take care of them myself, as my mom just kind of did it for me. I would do the same! I'm not into pierced ears on a baby, and she can wear clip ons for play time if she wants to.

I think we'll wait until she can have an opinion on the matter. I begged to have mine done when I was 5 and promised I'd take care of them.
Needless to say, I did not and they closed. I had them re-pierced at 10 and had learned my lesson. I know a lot of people pierce their girls ears as babies, I just don't know...
im going to do it as soon as possible so she can't tug or pull them. i had mine done when i was realllly tiny like 2 months old. ive never had any issues with the piercings themselves but as a kid i was allergic to cheap earrings.
This topic is always interesting to me. I think most people seem to prefer whatever was done to/for them.
I said I'd do it as soon as LO's pedi okayed it - mine were pierced when I was an infant and I'm very grateful that it was done that way. I'm glad I have them, and glad I don't remember it being done.
That said - I totally understand the whole "waiting until she's old enough to ask/care for them" argument and know a lot of people think earrings on babies look trashy. I don't happen to think so, but I'm clearly biased since I don't think I was a "trashy" baby.

I agree with this. I remember mine being done when I was like 8 because I wanted it done and it hurt so badly that I didn't want to get the other one done. My stepmom and dad had to bribe me with a cookie to get the second one done and once I did it and got my cookie, the cookie sucked!

This. I'm not entirely sure on what age I'll get LO's done though. I had mine done when I was 5 and still have them.
We got both DD's ear pierced at 12 weeks, which is the youngest that they are supposed to be done. I was very undecided about it, but DH wanted it done, so I actually spoke to our dr first. She explained to me that at that young age there is no nerve endings in the ear lobe and that baby really feels no pain. I don't remember either of them crying for more than 5 minutes max.

This. My mom waited to get mine done until I was old enough to take care of them. We made a fun girl day out of when I was about 11.
I will also wait until she is old enough to ask for them. I had to wait until I was like 16 or something (I think the rule was if I could drive myself there, then I was old enough...or something like that.) Although I think that was a little absurd, I would just feel bad for causing pain and possible infection for a purely aesthetic thing that I like, not necessarily something that she likes. I don't think it is a huge deal either way but have a feeling that I will think she is beautiful enough without the extra adornment!
I will probably wait until she wants (and is old enough to take care of) to get her ears pierce.
My mother did have my ears pierced as an infant but apparently I kept pulling at them, so she had to take it out and didn't pierce them again until I was about 4 or 5.

I guess I'm weird... haha. I got mine done when I was a baby, and I wish my parents wouldn't have done it. I've had nothing but issues wih them! Hence us waiting until Neriah is older to get them done if she wants. And I'm one who usually doesn't like the look of baby's with pierced ears, but I don't care at all what other people do (and some do look super cute with them).

With my first DD I got them done at 3 months old...She now never wears earrings. She doesn't like them at all,so I wish I would've waited. So this time,I am gonna wait until DD is at least 7 or 8 and let her decide and make a big day out of it....
While a mother/daughter day sounds great, we'll probably get hers done around 6mos. I had mine done around that time and can leave them out for years without worrying!
To each their own. I was born with a heart condition and my immune system was really messed up, so my cardiologist said no way when i was little. When I was finally allowed to do it, my mom let me decide whether or not I actually wanted to. We made a girls day out of it and all that. Yeah, it hurt a little...but i wanted to do it...so i sucked it up.
My niece is 7, and she's gone back and forth dozens of times asking me if it hurts...wondering if she should do it. She has changed her mind dozens of times based on the 'hurt' factor and whether or not she really wants to spend the time taking care of them like she should (she's 7, lol, responsibility hasn't quite sunk in yet) I think we'll let LO decide on her own.
I probably won't get my daughter's ears pierced until she's around 13--same as when I got mine done.
Growing up I was always sad that I never had pierced ears, but looking back, I'm glad my parents made me wait. I had a skin allergy that flaired up sooooo bad the first time I tried to wear earrings outside of the hypo-allergenic ones that the piercer used. I can't imagine being little and having to deal with that. :
where would we have them pierced if we wanted to have our LO ears pierced at a young age like months after her birth? any local ear piercing place will do it?
Yeah, this can be a spot of great contention. (But then again, what isn't when it comes to child rearing?!)
I'll do the same for my daughter that my mother did for me: wait until she's old enough to ask for it and care for it properly, then make a special mother daughter day out of it. I had some serious problems with ear infections as a child, and I wouldn't want to encounter that with a baby. I would want to wait until she's old enough to have some part in caring for her ear health.
