Without going into too much detail about the craziness in our lives...something amazing happened.
My DH, who cut his family off almost 11 years ago has reached out to his parents! Granted, he contacted them because we needed help but I can't help but feel like maybe all this mess for the last two years had to happen, for THAT to happen.
I have been waiting for this for so long, with us buying a house, getting married, having a child...they missed all that and I so wanted him to share it all with his parents. But now, my DH finally has his parents back and my B got to meet her grandparents.
I just wanted to share my little...everything happens for a reason story.
Re: "Everything happens for a reason"....
Chills....I have chills! Right at the base of the back of my head!
I truly and totally believe everything happens for a reason. And 18 months ago, 12 months ago, even 6 months ago...it wouldn't have necessarily been clear. But it's such an amazing feeling when that DOES become clear!

I love that you can find the positive in it.
So true Jodi!
And I have to add how much more amazed and in love I am with my DH now. For him to do that for us when he hasn't been able to do it for all the wonderful things in his life and to share all those things, or all the times when holidays rolled around and he didn't have them. But, he did it for us for othyer reasons that probably at the end, dont matter as much.
AMAZING, it sucks what you have had to go through to get here but your here and that is what matters.
My BIL has nothing to do with his family and it makes me so sad that they don't know their grandson or my sister. Someday, I hope.
:-)
How did B do with meeting them ??
She was little shy at first and kept saying "nooo, my grandma is in New Jersey" meaning my mom but then she forgot they were even there and was playing with her cousin...she has no cousins on my side so she's never met any of her cousins either. They happen to be babysitting that day so at least she got to meet one for now.
I hope that slowly they can rebuild their relationship and B can know the other side of who she is...the "spanish part" as she says
What a cool story - I'm so glad things are working out. And cousins are awesome. My niece is 17 - and she is so fun for my kids, despite the age gap, and Nat just adores her. I love watching them all together.
I joke about cutting off part of DH's family (just BIL, really), but I can't imagine just not talking to my parents/siblings for years. I'd be in a padded room, I'm sure.

I also believe everything happens for a reason.
I hope all works out for your family!
Well that is really exciting, and such a great time of year for it to happen too.
Yay!
I'm so happy for all of you! What a wonderful turn of events!
