Hi,
Just visiting from first trimester and had a question... I'm 12 weeks and have been bleeding lightly for the last week and a half. I've been to the doctor 3 times for ultrasounds, and each time the baby has been fine and my doctor has been unable to find the source of the bleed.
My questions are - has anyone experienced anything like this (either this pregnancy or a previous one), when did it start, and how long did it last? Any words of advice or anything I should ask my doctor?
Thanks!
Re: If you had spotting/bleeding in your pregnancy (and were fine)... please come in
i had a spotting scare at like 7-8 weeks. i spotted one day and had a clot another. it turned out that i have a fibroid that caused it.
poor sarahtx has had bleeding her whole preganancy so maybe she will pop in and give you some good advice.
try not to worry. easier said than done i know but the stress will only make it worse.
GL and ill say a prayer for you that things get better!
I had bleeding around 6w and they couldn't find anything that would be causing it. My OB told me the most likely cause was implantation bleeding from the placenta forming and attaching to the uterine wall. She said this could cause bleeding into early 2nd trimester until the placenta is fully formed.
yup. I have been bleeding/spotting my ENTIRE pregnancy. There hasn't really been a day (other than since being put on bedrest last monday), that I havent spotted something.
They could never find a cause either. However last week I started bleeding heavily, like a period. I was admitted to the hospital for 4 days and diagnosed with a placental abruption. They cannot see it on the ultrasound but the doctor told me that only 25% of them actually show up on ultrasound. They diagnose them mostly on symptoms. I do feel a bit better having a reason for the bleeding because I was going crazy.
My doctor told me that since I have been bleeding the whole pregnancy that is seems to only be getting worse they are monitoring me more closely than someone who say, only had one bleed.
While I don't wish this on you, I can tell you, having a presumable cause is somewhat comforting.
Trust me I have googled everything and was so frustrated and felt like my doctors were checking well enough. But Sometimes, there just is no cause.
Best of luck to you and I hope it stops soon!
Mine has stopped completely which makes bedrest really hard because I have no symptoms anymore! But I know if I were to get up and resume my normal life again, it could start up. So my advice to you is take it as easy as possible. If your bleeding decreases when you rest, then rest.
big hugs!!!

I started spotting at 17 weeks and was freaked out. They found the source-a blood clot on my placenta. It was 'old blood' and may have been there since the placenta formed. I had to be checked again to make sure the clot did not increase in size, and thankfully it did not.
Within 3 weeks, the bleeding resolved itself and the clot went away on its own.
