Lactation Consultant?

Anyone have a rec for an IBCLE LC? PM me please!

Re: Lactation Consultant?

  • What is IBCLE?  I have a lactation consultant that I used, but I don't know what IBCLE means.

  • I do not know what IBCLE is either. (goggled it and am not sure if my gal is or not). The peds office we chose (Southlake Peds) has NPs that are ALL lactation consultants. I thought that was really nifty and helpful.

  • It just means they're board certified. My (non local) friends have said to make sure I look for a board certified LC.
  • Yeah, I know that our pediatrician's clinic has LCs too.  The clinic that had them was Partners in Pediatrics in Maple Grove.

If you can't find one that you like outside of a pediatrician's office, I would call the pedi's offices in your area and see what they have.  I think one of the major things you have to look out for is lactation consultants vs. counselors.  From what I understand, consultants are also nursing and need a lot more training.  Counselors can just take some classes.  But you might want to double check that info.

  • Not sure if they are but I saw the ones out of United Hospital and they were awesome and super helpful.
