I went to change my daughter this morning after she woke up from the night and she was a mess - there were crystals all over her - I can't describe it any other way - her diaper was SUPER wet and there were crystals all over her poor body.........weird.
Was this from the diaper because it was so wet?
Do you guys change your daughters in the middle of the night? She's 5 months old (6 mos next Thurs) still not sleeping through the night but we don't change her diaper.
I felt so bad this morning - HELP!!!
Re: Diaper Crystals? HELP
DS has had that in the past. I've heard briefly about Pampers Dry Max causing chemical burns, but I don't use them. I use Huggies, and the crystals are there sometimes, but I wipe them off with a wipe, or I'll take him to the bathtub and run him under some warm water.
I don't change his diaper in the middle of the night unless he wakes up. He hasn't had so much as a diaper rash since he was about a month old, so in my expeirence, the crystals didn't necessarily mean anything except that the diaper was really full. Those crystals are what absorbs the wetness.
The crystals are the chemicals that absorb the wetness. We use Pamper's Baby Dry & sometimes see a few.
We don't change DS in the middle of the night anymore unless he poops (which doesn't happen often at all).
We use Pampers Cruisers Diapers.
Should I use something else? Or not worry about the crystals? Today was the first time I saw this but I felt so bad for her it was all over her
:-(
Are the crystals red-orange? Because I think those are urate crystals.
If they aren't red-orange they're probably from the diaper. I would try overnight diapers at night and change frequently during the day. The night diapers can absorb more and the cotton between the baby and the gel is thicker so it is less likely to tear and deposit crystals on baby.
