drug addicted babies

I'm watching the Drs.  and they're in a NICU for drug addicted babies.  OMG it's heart wrenching.   Broken Heart  These poor shaking babies.  One baby has been there 3 weeks NO ONE has come to visit her.  :o(   

What do you think should happen to the parents of these babies?

    Unfortunately sterilization isn't a possibility although that's my automatic answer.

    I still think and maybe I will get flamed for this, but people should need some sort of license to conceive. We seem to need one for everything else, but then these effed up people can go around popping out poor little babies.

    I used to work maternity/nursery in a city where this happened all the time! It broke my heart! And I can't tell u how many times these moms didn't show any remorse at all! They would talk about it like it was nothing "yah I'm addicted to heroine and I tried to stop when I was pregnany but just couldn't." But I can't think of a situation where the mom was actually allowed to leave with the baby, social services would step in and place the baby in foster care. At one time we had 4 drug addicted babies @ once!

    ugh....I can't believe the mother's who get high while pregnant. 

    I was watching 'I'm Pregnant and a Drug Dealer' last night and the mom was pregnant with her 3rd child in prison.  Her first two were adopted out, one of them she smoked pot and did crack all during her pregnancy, even lighting up a blunt 30 minutes before she arrived to give birth.  That angers me, how selfish.

    I agree. Nothing is more important than raising children and it should be treated as a privilege.

     My first reaction is they should burn in hell. But having been raised by an addict, I know they are not in control, the addiction is.

    They should automatically loose their children, at least till they are 100% clean for a designated period of time. 

    They should spend time in jail, at least as long as their baby is in the hospital. Addiction is a horrible disease, and sometimes jail is the only thing that can make someone get clean. Some dont even get clean there.

    Effing crazy people.
