Special things to do on LO's actual birthday (if big party isn't that day)

DS's birthday is on a Thursday and I want to do something special :) I was thinking of going out to breakfast and then to get his first haircut. As for the rest of the day, I don't know! My family is from OOT and will be arriving friday, the night before his party. So, I don't think we will be doing much in terms of family on his birthday.

Suggestions? I know he's little and won't remember, but it's a special day :)

  • I like the idea of getting his first haircut on his first birthday. That's cute and meaningful for momma Smile

  • DS's birthday is on a Thursday as well.  I took the day off and plan to go out to lunch with him and take him to the Children's Museum.
  • I was thinking about taking DD to either Build a Bear, or to the aquarium.
  • DS's is tomorrow Crying and we're getting pictures done. I think we'll also go out to dinner as a family and I'm going to make him a cake.

  • We are going to do something as a family on her birthday, we just don't know where we are going yet.  We were thinking about either going to the zoo or to Disney World (we live close by).   DH is leaning towards the zoo since we have season tickets and DD is too young to fully appreciate Disney.  I am leaning towards Disney.  We will see who wins.  Smile

  • I think I'll take C to the zoo on her actual birthday (our "gift" to her is an annual pass) and get/make a cake for her to smash up and take pictures!

  • we are taking him for his birthday portraits... we will probably do dinner... not sure what else...

I think he might still be young for build a bear! but I love that idea

  • DS's first birthday fell on a Friday and his party wasn't until Sunday so on Friday we went to lunch and took him to the pool (birthday in June). He's a total water baby! After dinner we gave him a little cupcake with a candle and sang "Happy Birthday" to him.

I know it's not really pool weather but you could do something else with LO that they may enjoy. I like the aquarium idea...

  • For my daugther's birthday I made her a special breakfast (apple raisin french toast strata).  We then went to Gymboree for a play and learn class.  We do not have a membership but took up the offer for the free class that they have.  She really enjoyed that.  We went to lunch afterwards and then took her to build-a-bear and helped her build a puppy dog.  Afterwards we went back home and had cupcakes and did presents and then played with all her new toys.  It was a fun day for everyone :)
