If you're willing to travel to Cambridge for delivery, then I HIGHLY recommend the midwives at Mt. Auburn Hospital. They have several offices where they see patients; the furthest north is Arlington I think.
I saw them for the birth of my first son, and I'm seeing them again with this baby. They are wonderful -- superior care with the best bedside manner and greatest respect for the mother's birth plan (without compromising medical necessity). MAH was a good hospital experience, too.
I have had both of my girls with the midwives from Essex County OB/GYN. They deliver at Beverly Hospital (not sure if that is too far North) and I had dream deliveries with both. Highly recommended!!!!
I have the midwives at North Shore Birth Center in Beverly you can chose to have your baby at the birth center, or across the parking lot at Beverly hospital. They are awesome! I had my daughter at the hospital because i had pre-eclamsia and they were great. Hoping to have this next one at the birth center.
Thanks everyone ! I hate to switch so late in the game, but this is our first and the OB/GYN and hospital we were set to deliver at don't seem to be the best fit any longer.
I was in a similar situation and switched from an OB who delivered at Winchester hospital to midwives at Newton-Wellesley at 34 weeks! It was the best decision I could have made. The midwife group is out of Harvard Vanguard in Wellesley and they were wonderful. Such a different and better experience from my OB and having the midwife during labor and delivery was amazing. I definitely recommend you go with your gut on this one...it's too important not to.

I second the recommendation of the Midwives of Mount Auburn.

Good luck!
Loved the whole experience at Mass General. Had a midwife and super supportive nursing staff.
