Michigan Cut Off

What is Michigan's cut off date for kindergarten?  My DS will be 5 in early June.  Should he have been in kindergarten already or no?  Not exactly sure how it works on when they should start.   Should he have started 4 1/2?  Next school year or after he turns 6?

    The state mandates a cut off of December 1st the year the child starts kindergarten.  However, school districts (and private schools) can adjust that date up. 

    You can (generally) check on your district's website.  I'd call, just because the districts in our local area will offer "testing" for school readiness to help parents make that decision.

    They have to be 5 by Dec 1.  So your child will turn 5 in June 2011, he will start Kindergarten in the Fall 2011.
