Winter/holiday birthdays

What themes did you use (or are you using) for winter or holiday birthday parties?  Our girls' b-day is New Year's Eve, so I figure people are going to be pretty partied-out and tired of the seasonal casseroles, etc.  It crossed my mind to do an indoor garden theme with fresh flowers, lighter food choices, and maybe flower pot cupcakes.  Would you find this refreshing, or just weird in the middle of winter?

Any other fun ideas? Thanks! : )

  • We did a Winter ONEderland Party. Here are a few pics from the event. We did a hot chocolate bar that was a big hit!

  • We're in the same boat (Dec 30 bday). I love the winter One-derland idea! It would be super easy to decorate too b/c you could get a bunch of decorations half off right after xmas.

We're doing the theme "One Year Old in a Flash" with a camera/photo emphasis.

  • OK, I think I'm over the garden theme.  I'd feel much better about embracing the season they were born in ; )  I've been looking online for more Winter ONEderland ideas and am getting some good ones!

    Love the photo theme too!

  • I love your garden idea.  I think it would be a nice treat to have a bit of spring in the middle of winter.  We're doing Sesame Street b/c we already have the decorations and there wasn't anything I could find that I liked better.  GL with whatever theme you choose, no matter what decorations you have, it'll be perfect because you're blessed to have 2 beautiful girls.
  • Our situation is a little different, since the boys' birthday is before Christmas, but I just pretend that Christmas doesn't exist until after their birthday. So the first year, we had a circus theme. Second bday was monkeys, and this year is Sesame Street.

I think the garden idea is sweet.
