SO happy! And it is like my brain will not shut down! I can't stop thinking about what to do, what I need to get, etc..... lol I think the question I have right now is, do I need a midwife? Is this something that is covered by insurance? I am just trying to do some research and figure a few things out early on. If anyone can give me any advice, it would be very appreciated!
Re: Just found out I'm pregnant!
Congratulations!!
I don't understand your question though...
Do you have health insurance? First thing, you should make an appt with your OBGYN and they will probably do a blood test or an ultrasound to confirm your pregnancy. Then you can talk to them about delivery options, and midwife or OB options.
Also, start taking prenatal vitamins, if you haven't already. It doesn't matter what brand you take, you can take Target or Costco ones, they are all pretty much the same.
ohh haha ok so a midwife and an OBGYN can both deliver babies? I think i was somewhat confused about what exactly a midwife does. All I have heard about it was they help support you in the delivery room. Sorry for the confusion! I was confused as well. lol And yes I do have insurance and yes it covers a midwife! My first appt is in a few weeks! I am guessing I will be at about 10 weeks. Does that seem like an unusually long time to see someone? Or is that normal?
Thanks guys!
I'm so excited!
yes. midwives do delivery just like an OBGYN. i can't tell you all of the differences, but I think that you just get a little more personal and "natural" experience with a midwife. they might offer you a lot more options for your delivery than a standard OB office will.
if you want someone for additional support during labor and delivery that would be a doula. insurance does not cover them (not that i've ever heard anyway).
it doesn't seem unusual. i think most 1st appointments are around 8-10 weeks.
