I'm confused about the postings on giving LO water only. I called my LO's pediatrician and they recommend juice for her age. It can be replaced with water at 1yr.
Our Pedi said no juice until 1 YO. If we do, only 4 oz/day. I give one sippy w/4 oz juice and 4 oz of water mixed in. She loves it. She also will not drink plain water. Milk is still her fav.

Now I'm lost.
my Ped said the same... that its ok to give juice... however I dilute it... there is more water than juice.. maybe 2.5 oz of juice and 4 oz water...

We do the same. Our daugther gets 1-2 oz of juice mixed with 3 oz of water at dinner. The rest of the day she drinks milk or water.
My DS drinks water fine, but that is probably because I have not given him Juice. Why would someone choose water over juice if all they understand is taste?
Our pedi said that the juice has no nutritional value and is the #1 cause of malnutrition in children, so why would I want to give it to my son? We'll stick with water and milk if we can help it.
My pediatrician said juice was okay, she didn't mention anything about sugar content or calories, although I'm totally aware of watching those numbers. My daughter actually doesn't like juice or water and only likes whole milk and Enfagrow.
I've never been told that juice was recommended. Why did they say they recommend it?? I was told there was no nutritional value to juice at all.
this.
my dr doesn't recommend juice until after 2 years of age, and even then he said it's not necessary. it's basically liquid sugar. he can get his fruit inake by actually eating it, and it's more filling that way as well. water or milk/formula is all my dr recommends

Most of the time we give water -- about 3 oz a day.
If we give juice we mix 2oz of juice with 2oz of water.
I guess it depends what kind of juice it is. There's definitely junk juices out there that is probably pure sugar.
