AW: Three Sessions without the Nipple Shield

DD has been on the nipple shield since day 8.  Before that, I was FF and EP intermixed because she wouldn't thrust her tongue out and get a proper latch.  Last night she took the nipple alone and just started going to town!  I am so so so so happy!!  I didn't mind the nipple shield - she was getting enough milk and growing well so I didn't worry.  But not having to use it is so far the best thing!  Just that one little step makes a huge difference. 

 

I enjoy seeing others' successes on this board with BFing.  I know it's a wonderful thing for our LO's.  I wanted to share my success, too, and hopefully boost someone's confidence.  Hope you all have a great day BFing your LOs!!

    That's so great! My son has been on the shield since day 2 and I hope to one day wean him. I just met with a LC yesterday to get the process started and you give me hope that we can do it! :)

    I used the breast shield for 3 months or more.  One day I just got sick of having to keep track of it and take it with me places so I started with the shield to get him going and then removed it.  Slowly we got to wear we didn't have to at all!!!  I love that we don't have to use the breast shield.

    That's huge! Congratulations! For those still struggling with nipple shields, keep it up! It took my LO until just over three months to decide he was done with it, but when he did, he latched right on and has been nursing like a champ.

    That is great news. We used a nipple shield for 6 weeks. One day she nursed without and since then we never had to use it again. We having been going strong since.
