We'll be at 6 months next week (holy $hitballs, next week!). Most of the time he eats every 3 hours, sometimes in the evening he eats less and stretches to 4 or 4.5 hours. Last night was the first time he slept all night. I got home from grad school and dream fed him at 10 pm and he slept until 5 am!
my daughter has never went more then 3 hours, if she is really busy and we are out and about every once in a while she will go 4 hours, but not very often. It is normal because bf babies never have to stretch there tummies to fit more in so they ave small stomachs that don't hold a lot, usually around 4-5 ounces and when they begin solids they drink less bm. They thing that helps me remember it ok is do I deny myself a drink of water when I am thirsty? I don't say 'nope I can't have my drink yet it hasn't been 4 hours...." no I go and get a drink. BM is made to nourish your child in more ways then just filling his tummy!

sorry to hijack...but my daycare keeps insisting that my son is still hungry and that I need to send more BM. I sent in 6 oz bottles for a couple days but I swear he was just throwing it up so I went back to 5. His pedi also said most babies his age ate more (he was at 4 oz at his 4 month) and had me all paranoid until I started doing research that BF babies don't tend to up the oz they drink, the milk just adapts...he can eat 4 at home and still be happy. I can pump 7-8 oz a session and when he nurses he always takes both sides but then he throws up a lot, if I don't offer the other side, he gets mad! Any suggestions? Should I just offer one side and wait it out? I hate to think I keep wasting liquid gold! lol
About 4ish hours. He usually eats when he wakes up in the morning, when he gets up from his morning nap, then again around 4p and then when he goes to bed I nurse him anyway (7:30p). He'll also usually gets up once at night to eat.
My LO is 7 months now, but has had the same schedule for over a month now.
She usually nurses around every 2 1/2- 3 hours. We started solids also, so sometimes she will eat solids between the 3 hours and it will extend a little bit. Usually right before bedtime (6pm) she will only go about 2 hours and then she sleeps until around 6am-7am without a feeding.
DS is only going 2-2.5 hrs. and everyone keeps telling me he should be going longer. Guess their right..
No, no, no. Every baby is different. When DS was 6 months he was also still nursing every 2 hours. Sometimes every 1.5. He was VERY distracted at that point in time. The doc said it was nothing to be concerned about. Your DS will start going a little longer when you get into solids.
