Did breastfeeding help get your figure back like everyone says it will? and what workout program did you find helped out the most getting your pre-pregnant weight and figure back?

I dropped about 20 pounds right away (which was most of my pregnancy weight). However, I found that when I really started working out again, my supply tanked, so I held off for a long time on intense working out. I did the 30 day shred for a while but again, it was awful for my supply and nursing my baby was more important than getting thin again. Also, when I weaned DD around a year, I gained 10 pounds
"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind."
- Kurt Vonnegut
I think it depends. Some say it helps, others say they actually hang on to the last few lbs until LO is weaned. For me, I had gained 30 lbs and lost 20 by 1 week PP. The last 10 lbs took 10 more weeks to go away. I do fit in all my pre pregnancy clothes. I have hardly exercised at all... as PP said, it can cause your supply to tank big time.

No, if anything it did the opposite! I was always so famished. I read somewhere that BFing makes your stomach larger... or something like that, so you can ingest more calories. But, I remember being upset that it didn't help me lose weight.
I'm gonna say it helped to burn those extra calories. As a non pregnant person I'm big into fitness so I started working out again as soon as I got the ok from my OB at 5 weeks pp I started working out. Plus I just didn't have as much time to eat. I lost all of the 45 lbs that I gained while pregnant except a stubborn 5lbs by about 2 1/2 months pp.
I think it definetly helped get rid of the extra weight. I gained 65 lbs (I know - yikes!) with DS and nursed him for 9 months. I lost all but 5 lbs and was never able to establish a consistent workout routine.
I lost all 57lbs by 3 months PP and when we weaned at 15 months, I gained 5lbs. I'm reallllly hoping it's as easy this time around, and I definitely attribute it to breastfeeding.
I breastfed ds until he was 11 months and then pumped for a month after that. I lost all the weight (65lbs) by the time ds was 6.5 months old. I didnt do any type of workout program.
I was one of the lucky ones who held onto the last 10lbs until I quit bfing. Dieting and exercise made my supply tank. At 11mos, I decided getting my desire to get my body back was higher than my desire to cont bfing, so I started dieting and working out. It took 3mos to completely lose my supply and those 10lbs. I gained 50 total. We'll see what happens this time!
I lost all the weight (38 lbs) within 5 months and I EBF. My tummy was still a little flabby at that point, but then I got pregnant again so didn't bother to get rid of it. I didn't do any dieting or exercising.
I gained 35 pounds with my son. I lost 25 pounds within 2-3 weeks......I was unable to lose the last 10 until after I stopped breastfeeding. My OB said a lot of it has to do with hormone production and lask of my menstral cycle. I stopped breastfeeding my son at 9 months and had lost the last of the weight once I got a period. Frustrating not to lose the weight, but well worth the benefits of breastfeeding. Good luck!
I lost all my PG weight when he was born. I didn't gain that much and he was a big baby. When I first saw the scale I was like "wahoo, now with BFing I'll lose even more", not.so.much. I didn't lose 1 pound nursing. and I did it for nearly 10 mos.
It actually got me smaller pp than I was when I got pregnant! I was always a size 2, after about 3 months bfing I was a 0. A very comfortable and not tight at all 0. Im pretty sure I couldve fit in a 00, some of my 0s needed a belt in fact!
It really helped me! I lost the baby weight very quickly with both boys. I hope the same happens again! I was hungry all the time though and my problem with both is that I ate like a horse after I quit nursing too. So I ended up gaining back about 4 or 5 pounds after stopping breastfeeding. But I lost below my pre-pregnancy weight while nursing so I guess it evens out:)
No, I did not lose weight until I stopped BF. I lost 22lbs giving birth (the joy of having a 10lb baby!) and did not lose any weight while BF. After I stopped, the last 8lbs came off pretty quickly.
By the time Connor was 3 months old, I had lost all of the baby weight, then some. I weighed less after having him than I did before. BF definitely helped to get me back to my pre pregnancy weight. I didn't exercise or diet either, it just came right off.

I came home from the hosp about 20 lighter and then dropped another 10 from breastfeeding but I only did it for 3 months because my supply sucked. I started doing INSANITY at 3 mon PP and my milk was gone so I had to stop.
It helped in the beginning but I think my body got used to it and eventually I ended up packing weight on (there were a bunch of underlying factors there too LOL) This time around I am hoping to keep up the decently healthy eating habits and fully benefit from the extra calories being burned.
I don't know for sure that it was from breastfeeding, but I lost 20lbs the first week. I lost the last 10lbs over DS's first 3 months and was back in my regular pants at that time. I didn't work out because I was afraid it would affect my milk supply, as I'd heard from other moms.
Re: moms of 1+ who breastfed, come on in!
I'm reallllly hoping it's as easy this time around, and I definitely attribute it to breastfeeding.

I lost 45 pounds in 3 months and was back into a size 2.
I could feel my uterus contracting every time I bfed that first 3 months and had no need for the post pg band.
I BF'd & 3 months after LO was born - I was smaller than I was before the pregnancy.
I lost all the pregnancy weight with all three babies within the first 4 months. I never dieted - but I did exercise. Walking, swimming etc.
Even if you dont lose the baby weight right away - BFing is sooo worth it. Good luck!
