Just wondering...how many minutes were your babies born apart if you delivered vaginally?

My boys were born 41 minutes apart and I thought they'd come much closer together. I wonder sometimes how long they would wait for the second baby to come down. My boys started out head to head at my induction at 36 wks. Noah's water was broken first though and he was always Baby A. He came flying out but then Ethan went back up to -5 station and it took him that long to get out! 4 nurses and Dr.'s had to "hold" Ethan in place so he wouldn't flip til he was ready...Noah just lie wide awake in Daddy's arms quietly until Ethan finally made his loud appearance! How far apart were yours born???

  • Also, my hubby later told me a surgeon was ready, scalpal in hand to do a section and that she seemed nervous for a bit! Crazy! I would've freaked if I had seen her...luckily everything worked out great!

  • Mine were born 11 minutes apart. I started pushing Baby A out at 11:35 PM. I was so worried they'd have different birthdays! But Baby A and Baby B both arrived before midnight, with 10 minutes to spare.  I just figured different birthdays would be confusing. HA HA.
  • Mine were born 7 minutes apart and they were both born vaginally, but the second was born by breech extraction. So I'm not sure how long it would've taken if he'd stayed head-down and I had pushed him out, too. They put Baby A on my chest right away, so it was nice to have the distraction of looking at him and snuggling him while they figured out where Baby B was and pulled him out. :)

  • 14, but they vacuumed B down so he wouldn't turn, since he was already head-down.  I then pushed 1.5 times and he came right out!

  • 4 minutes, with Baby B being a breech extraction.  Like pp said, I've wondered how long it would have taken if she was head down and they didn't just reach in a grab her. :)

  • 7 minutes. And 5 of that was spent trying to break Baby B's water. After that it was 1 contraction : )
  • 7 minutes.  It may have been faster if my OB wasn't collecting A's cord blood - she had to stop doing that when B was about to fall out!
  • 7 minutes! Both head down.
  • 5 min

one of the nurses told my OB that they liked to have at least 10 min in between, he responded "shut up and do your job."  DH almost missed baby B because he was looking at baby A.  I think I probably only pushed for 1 min w/ baby B.

  • Did anyone nurse baby A while still laboring with B?  Is that even possible? :o)  I can imagine it would be hard to concentrate on the nursing, but maybe it would stimulate more contractions for B?  Just curious!

  • Mine were 1 minute apart. I had a c-section, my dr stopped and waited till the clock changed so that they would each have their own time :)

I think this would be kind of cool that they had their own bdays.  Finding an announcement would be a PITA though since they all assume the same bday.

  • 9 minutes.  It took a few minutes for the OB to break baby b's water and when she did baby B came out with one push!  Her little head was much easier to push out then her big headed brother :)
  • same minute.  655am.  It was a (terribly frightening) emergency c section.  B was in distress and they had to get A out first

  • wow...seems like I take the cake with 41 min. and they were both head down . I only pushed 1/2 push and A popped out but B (Ethan) went way back up and we had to wait for him to come back down before I could push!) It was tough to push to get Ethan back down but I was sure determined!
