I have gone 38 weeks+ without needing to call the doctor for anything out of the ordinary, but now I am having some belly pain that's making me crazy. At first it felt like the baby has had an elbow jutting into one place for far too long. It was like I was bruising from the inside out. Now I feel like it's gotten worse.
My son was sitting on my lap earlier, and he pushed himself backward toward my belly...ouch it was a huge rush of pain so I basically threw him off my lap (sorry, kid!) and cried out in pain. It was almost a burning sensation. I can also feel this when I bend over or try to lift something, although it's not nearly as bad as when William pushed toward me. It doesn't hurt when I sit still, walk around, lie down, etc.
I called the doctor, and the nurse said to take Tylenol and use a heating pad.
I'm wondering if I pulled a muscle lifting my (32 lb) toddler a few days ago. Did anyone experience something similar while pregnant?
Re: Pulled ab muscle while pregnant?
I had a burning/numbing sensation on my upper right side, close to my ribs. It gradually got worse up to delivery. I researched the symptom and got anything from muscle separation to gall bladder problems. My doc said it was just something that pgcy sometimes brings. I didn't really want to accept that answer at the time, but after delivery, everything went away, so I guess she was right. :-) I do still have a little numbness in that area, but no pain.
I found that it was better or worse depending on how I sat or stretched my back, etc. It sucks. Sorry!
