I'm sorry, but this is going to sound completely crazy, but I have to ask. My c/s scar had been itchy during this pregnancy, but the other day it was sore/achy at the end of the day, and I had this completely irrational fear that it would bust open. The nurse at my last appt made a comment that some women just heal differently, and their c/s scars are paper thin and can open up during labor (obviously, she was swaying me toward a repeat c/s, though my OB is supportive of the VBAC). Is there any connection between how the scar heals and likelihood of uterine rupture? I'm also wondering - do you feel the scar when you're in labor?
Re: Sore c/s scar
I don't know statistically about any connection, but my scar get itchy sometimes and towards the end of my last pregnancy I was sore in that area a lot. My uterus was fine during my VBAC though.
And when I was in labor I didn't notice it at all. Actually, the thought of rupture didn't even enter my mind once labor started.
That nurse sounds super-helpful
- yikes.
Anyhoo, my scar got itchy and sensitive towards the end of my pregnancy, I think it might have been more because my waistbands would ride on it more?
I agree with the whole outside scar isn't the same as the inner scar. I didn't feel anythink when I was in labor, though my sister did have weird echo contractions on her outside scar when she was pushing (buuuut, it healed badly, and she was still in pain from it 3 months after she had her c-section, so that probably had something to do with it). She had a successful VBAC.
