Favorite side - garlic sauteed green beans
Favorite dessert - pecan pie
Mine is similar to yours. The outside gets salt, pepper, garlic powder, butter, lemon and orange juice. The inside gets onion and garlic, lemon and orange slices, and celery. Then I drizzle it with EVOO before I pop it in the oven.
My favorite side dish has to be stuffing
Desset: my homemade pumpkin cheesecake, yum!
My sister makes the bird!
Favorite side is my mom's chestnut stuffing - I look forward to it every year! Also love sweet poatoes - I'm making those this year.
Favorite dessert - cherry pie with hard sauce. Hard sauce is a family recipe - so far no one I've met IRL know what it is maybe some of you do. It's basically butter and sugar whipped together with some rum that you put on top of the pie. It's so good!
1) Search food network for Alton Brown's Good Eats Roast turkey, I made it once 4 years ago and I make it EVRY.SINGLE.YEAR and everyone loves it, you brine it overnight and I swear it is the juciest turkey you will ever have!
2) I also make the Good Eats green bean casserole
3) I die for Marie Calendar's Banana Cream Pie!
I saw this method on The Food Network this weekend. I thought about doing it this way.
1. Stuff it with sage stuffing. Season with salt and pepper and lay piece of cheese cloth that has been soaked in butter over the breasts of the turkey. I baste the cheese cloth with melted butter as the turkey cooks. The breast comes out SOOOOO juicy this way and the skin is the most gorgeous deep golden brown you have ever seen. Look up Martha Stewart's Turkey 101.
2. It has to be when the stuffing meets the cranberry sauce.
3. Pumpkin pie.
The one time I hosted Thanksgiving, I roasted two ducks. They were awesome. I have never cooked a turkey. My FIL deep fries his, and it is excellent!
My favorite sides are green bean casserole and cranberry sauce (homemade whole berry only!).
Clean it out, pop it in an oven bag, and let 'er roast.
Side: Sweet potato casserole.
Dessert: Pumpkin pie.
Best pie EVER!!!
