I brought some Carter's onesies back today (I had no idea where they came from-no gift receipt) and the girl just had to scan them to see if they came from BRU. They did, and I got store credit.
I also tried returning a carseat head cradle thingy and she would not accept it because even though they sell the product, it is not in the same packaging they sell it in, and the scan code is not the same. Apparently items are packaged differently at different stores?
It is worth a try to just bring them to the service desk
You don't have an actual Carters store near you? We have a big one in our outlet mall, so people don't usually bother with BRU or Kohl's for clothes. 50 sleepers is insane... it'd definitely be nice to get store credit somewhere... good luck!
BTW, Target has the worst return policy of any store ever. BRU will let you return anything that you registered for even without a gift receipt. I am adding some stuff to my BRU registry and returning it
I've gotten Carter's from BRU, Kohls and JC Pennies. Could be from anywhere. Carter's even has a cheaper line at Target now.
I give up trying to get a ticker. I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome. Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself. Hmmm. How about...

No-many other stores carry Carter's. As a PP mentioned, BRU has a lousy return policy. I'd try target or kohl's first.
Do you have a Carter's store or outlet store in your area? That might be another option as well.
