Is anyone else

ready for the snow?  I have never been a fan of the snow but for some reason this year I can't wait for it!!  Maybe it's because I am anxious to see how DD reacts to it.  Any moms out there have any suggestions on how to keep busy during the long winter months?  I am mostly looking for at home activities.

Re: Is anyone else

  • I know for this year I plan on a lot of indoor projects with my 2yr old. I would take her out in the snow but I learned last year that if its just 3 inches deep shes not a fan of it. But I got her these neat crayons by crayola that are meant for windows and I have a window just for her to color on she just scribbles (but she thinks it tells a story or something). Plus playdoh fun is always great Im getting her a table of her own for in the living room so she can draw and play and eat at it. I also set up a small play room for her so she can play her keyboard and noisey toys in there and not bother anyone too much. But Im also going to be quite large when the snow comes, so I dont want to risk falling on ice or snow so... it indoors for the most part this year. Otherwise if the snow gets a lil deep have your DH or yourself shovel a small path for her to a dead end and you can help her build a wall or snow castle and kids love that, when my DD turned 1 I made a HUGE indoor fort with chairs and stuff she loved it!!!

  • The only part about the snow that I'm not "ready" for (and I never will be) is driving in it.

I cannot stand how 90% of people drive in the first place and snow just amplifies that.

Otherwise, yeah, DD was pretty little last year to really enjoy the snow.  This year, I'm sure she'll have a blast!

  • Well, the snow has arrived. It makes it seems so much more real because I'm having a winter baby!

  • I am a bit worried that I am going to go stir crazy once baby arrives in February. I know I am going to be stuck inside the majority of my maternity leave, but in the dead of winter? Eeek.

  • LOL Sarah - ODD was born January 2nd! I was on leave all of January and February. It actually went by very fast though. I was just enjoying my newfound motherhood. Now, if that would have been the case with #2, I would have gone NUTS!

I'm excited the snow is here. ODD was barely 1 last winter, so she didn't really get into it. We were out in it all morning yesterday and she just had a blast. She LOVES it, definitely a Minnesota Winter baby! I can't wait to get out there with her all season!
