Dark belly line and gender prediction?

Since you ladies already know what you're having:

My friend had a dark line down her belly with DS, this time she is having a girl and no belly line at all. This goes the same for me but I don't know what I'm having this time yet.

Does that dark line have to do with certain hormones and gender of baby?

Linea nigra is just caused by hormones, I've never heard it showing up more for one sex and not the other.

I've had it with both pregnancies.

I am having a boy and just got a line this past week. I have never heard of it as a gender predictor either.

Never had it with either pregnancy, and I already have a boy and am pregnant with a girl this time around.

never heard of that one, but i can tell you from experience there is no way of telling what you are having untill you get a ultra sound no matter what you hear (belly size, charts, if you have pregnancy glow or not etc)

There is no correlation. The presence or absence of a linea nigra is currently still a scientific mystery.

The ONLY gender predictor that isn't a load of crap (usually) is your doctor determining the sex via u/s. Regardless of the OWT there will always be some that find it to be true because every OWT has a 50/50 chance of being true.

I had a line with both pregnancies. I have a boy and am having a girl. My best friend had the line with all 3 pregnancies. She has a mix of kids.

I'm having a boy and have no line yet. I doubt that there is connection though because my mom never had a line either so it might also be genetics. Although it's weird that your friend had it during one pregnancy and not the other.

I had it very dark with my first pregnancy (girl) and not at all so far with this one (girl).

Never heard of that, but I had a dark line with DS. This time I have no line whatsoever, and I'm expecting another boy. At least that's what they told me. So I don't think they are related.

I have it and have had for a few weeks now. I am having a girl. I haven't heard of this as a gender prediction before.

I am having a girl and have a super dark line all the way up my belly...

The OWT I read said that a line going from your pubic bone and then up past your belly button meant a boy, but a line from your pubic bone just up to your belly button meant a girl. It was right for me both times. Maybe just a coincidence?

I don't think its accurate as a gender predictor. My first pregnancy I had a boy and this time I am having a girl. No lines with either preganancy.

The best they can figure regarding the linea nigra is that it's where your abs are stretching apart and the body grows hair to 'protect' it.

If it makes you feel better, I've heard of it being a gender prediction. I don't know how much stock to put into it, but sounds like from pp's that hormones are different for everyone, no matter what the baby's gender may be.

I have never heard anything about a correlation, seems funny. I don't have a line and am having a girl, due in 11 days...

I read up on gender prediction (Chinese calendar, heart rate, food cravings, etc.) and ALL of mine were wrong. They all indicated boy but that's not my outcome, I think they are exactly what they are called, "wives' tales."

My baby must be a weirdo, then, since the only line I have is above the belly button only.
