Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Who does Black Friday?

I've never dared venture out on Black Friday...the crowds, the crazies, the wee early hours of the morning...but I'm seriously considering it this year.

I was just looking at Target's BF ad, and they've got a portable DVD player for $49. And Megabloks tub for 50% off...and other various deals. We've been wanting to get a portable DVD player for our 12+ hour road trips from GA to OH, and that's a heck of a deal...

So to you Black Friday veterans, is it really worth it? How early do you head out? I know the electronics in particular go quickly, so I'd probably have to get there reeeeeally early.

Re: Who does Black Friday?

  • I do Black Friday, but not super early in the AM. We usually head out around 10am. By this time the crazies have gone home. I went out once a few years ago at 5am because Walmart had a card table and chairs for $25, and I literally couldn't believe how chaotic things were. I've seen stores busy before and heard BF stories, but seeing it in person was totally different.

  • I would absolutly looooove to go this year, but I have no babysitter for McCrae =(

They also do the sales online, Did it say "in store online" when you were looking at the ad? If not it's going to be online too.  I plan on staying up late or getting up early to catch some deals online!

OOoohh, and by the way....Just noticed your from GA, What part of GA?

  • I usually go, but just for the thrill.  I didn't go last year and I'm not going this year...I can use all the sleep I can get.

  • Me! My sister and I have done Black Friday since I was like 10. We go every year, I even went last year 9 months pregnant! I love it, but I love all the craziness of it, too.

We actually went Thanksgiving night last year, so we got at the places for midnight. You pretty much have to get there when doors open to get the really good deals, like electronics. I know we went to Wal-Mart last year around 2 in the morning and waited until they released everything around 4, but we got everything we came for.

  • I normally go every year with my best friend.  Unfortunately I have to work this year. BOOOOOO.  I always make sure I am at the store by 5 am. A lot of stores offer the same sales online and you can just order it that way without having to get out in the crowds!

  • I have gone in the past- never super early- and never to Best Buy or Walmart- that is just too crazy for me. I have never gotten anything that great. This year I'm not going out with DD- but I am going to Kohl's at 3am to get a Shark Mop Steamer for $49- DH thinks I'm nuts- but Kohls is like 5 minutes from our house- so I will run down and then come home.

  • I am one of those crazy people who venture out every year, for the last 8!!  We always grab breakfast at Denny's and then hit the stores by 5:00am!  However this year we will be waiting in line at 2:00am at Target to get the 40" flat screen LCD HDTV that is on sale for $298 marked down from $550!!  We have been waiting 3 years to finally buy one!  It's our christmas present to each other!  My cousin works at Target and can get a 20% off discount in addition to the sale price, so we just can't pass up the steal of deal!!
  • I can't stand shopping close to the Holidays. I can't even begin to imagine what black Friday is like. No thank you! lol

  • I thought I would add that DH is off work that day so of course DD will be staying at home!! If I didn't have a sitter I would be staying home. It's sad because I have seen little babies out shopping with their parents at 4:00 in the morning at Walmart...Indifferent

We're about 30min from Macon, in a little small back woods town that nobody has ever heard of.

Ugh...I can't even imagine subjecting a baby or small child to that madness! Particularly after the horror stories of the last few years, with the one death at Walmart from trampling. DS and I will be visiting my parents, so I'll leave him with my mom, snuggly and warm (and SAFE!) at home.

  • We go every year. The killer deals tend to have a very limited number of items per store though so if you go later in the day you miss out. We are thinking of being "those" parents out black Friday shopping with our baby. He's usually up at 5 am anyway and can sleep in his stroller.

In my 5+ years of black Friday shopping I have yet to see the "madness". Maybt because we have so many shopping centers around and we avoid target, Walmart, toys r us, and those types of stores.
  • i never do black friday's since i probably always sleep in & have a hangover. Since im pregnant this time around i am doing black friday at target! I did se the add for that portable dvd so i plan on getting that. target's also only a block away from me.

  • In my experience, Target is awesome about have a ton of their sale items in stock. I bought a protable dvd player there on black friday 2 years ago. While they were out on the shelf (since there is only so much room there) the employees were awesome about going to the back and getting whatever we needed. I can't remember what it was now, but they've been able to do the same for my mom in the past. I've never gone to target on black friday and NOT gotten what I went for.
