3rd Trimester

I thought they were suppose to slow down...

Someone told me that right before you go into labor the baby tends to quiet down, well the past week my LO has amped up his activity level. I swear this is the most I have felt him move this entire pregnancy (he always was a chill baby when it came to movement, always got normal kick counts but definitely wasn't a big mover or shaker)

Any of your LO's seem to be on overdrive lately? Not that I am complaining because I love when he moves, but i wonder what has him so active this past week.

  • Maybe he's having a "goodbye womb" party to which no one but he is invited...

  • Yep! and it has really discouraged me because I have heard the same thing!

  • I feel like my little guy is trying his hardest to get outta here with all this movement. I am welcoming it, but I too thought the closer you get to labor the less they move.

    HA! Love this,

OK so I am not the only one who heard they slow down towards the end. Not that I don't have like 3 more weeks to go, but I was expecting a decrease in movement, not a sudden increase. Makes me feel good though, I don't worry about how he is doing nearly as much with him flipping around all over my stomach.

  • I always thought that meant LO slows down the day of labor, or the day before labor once he/she has entered the birth canal or something like that.  At 36 weeks, its too soon for that...  I'm at 40 weeks (in 25 minutes) and she hasn't slowed down =(
  • Iv had an active baby inside me my whole pregnancy.  I felt him/her move at around 12 weeks and it hasn't stopped.  Lately however, the movement seems to be elevated!  It almost hurts.  Elbows, a butt, and sometimes a foot in the rib cage.  Does anyone else think that when the baby moves this late in pregnancy that it hurts?  It almost feels like a Charlie horse :(
  • Baby's movements slowing down was a total myth for me. I was almost a week overdue and even though she had no room in there, she was moving ALL the time, including through the entire labor.
