Is it what you normally do, or different?
We are going to visit my brother, SIL and nephew (15months) in Ohio. My parents (who live 15mins from us) are also going, but are flying. We are driving, and I'm SO glad. It's about a 7 hour drive without stops. With the drive to the airport (~45mins), all the time spent getting our stuff through the airport and security, and the hassle of not packing TOO much and stressing about time, it ends up sucking about the same amount of time of our lives. Plus I can't imagine how packed the airport is going to be this time of year. Not that there won't be traffic, but it's on our time.
Normally my SIL has not wanted to spend any holidays away from her family so we had to make a fake holiday "Thanksmas" in between the 2 so that we could see them during the holiday season. I'm excited to actually be spending a real holiday with them lol. In years past we've done different things for the day-dinner at my parents' house with their friends, dinner at our place, dinner at one of our friends' houses in NJ, etc.
Re: What are you all doing for Thanksgiving?
That's convenient
We have always gone down to DH's family cabin for holidays (about 2 hrs from us). This year they said since we have the babies it was our choice... So I wanted to have it at our house. Mainly just because of the convenience of having everything here for the babies.
Although everyone said that was fine, my BIL and his family have to drive a little further to get here (2 hours more for them), so they are making a big deal about it. When they had their baby (who is almost 15 now) DH and his family traveled 7 hours every holiday to their house so it was easier on them. It irritates me that they are not understanding about this, and saying they will try to come. They have also been trying to make me feel guilty about not having it close to their house... Sorry this turned into a little vent but it really is bothering me.
