Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Finally made the decision

to stop bfing. For the past month and a half, I was only nursing in the morning so only 1 session per day (DD hated nursing, she would freak out every time but was fine in the mornings) and then pumped and offered formula with a little bit of bm in a bottle.

These past few days, I have noticed a really big drop in my supply and DD has started biting me everytime I nurse her. It wouldnt hurt so bad but she now has her 2 bottom teeth so it hurts! Oh and I think the reason she is biting is because she's upset that the milk isnt coming out as fast with my supply drop.

So i've made the decision to stop bfing but still unsure how long and if I will simply keep pumping and giving her both formula and bm.. we shall see.

If you stopped bfing, how long did you pump to mix bm and formula?

Re: Finally made the decision

  • We didn't mix at all.  I gave him complete bottles of bm until my stash was gone and then switched to formula.  It went pretty well.

  • We mixed for about a month and a half, then when my frozen stash ran out, she was on formula 100%.

  • I pumped for 3 months and just recently quit and I don't miss it a bit!I had planned to gradually stop, to avoid paing engorgement, but then just decided to stop and it went fine.My supply had tanked, so I had one day that I was a little uncomfortable and that was it. I guess it was just my time to stop.
