So Evan is still refusing purees, but this weekend I decided to try out yogurt melts and guess what? He was eating the heck out or 'em! Very exciting for us.
Anywho, now I'm wondering what I should try next. At this point I am glad he is eating anything, but I want to feed him something more nutritious. He has 2 bottom teeth, 1 top tooth, and is getting 3 more on the top. Oh, and he doesn't really like cold food and he seems to want to feed himself.
Any suggestions?

Re: Woo Hoo, we found a solid E will eat!
What finger foods have you tried?
Cheerios, cheese, cut up softer fruit (pears, bananas, peaches), cooked buttered pasta, rice, those are sort of the "old stand-bys" in my house.
G was never really interested in purees. He wanted to feed himself and he liked to chew.
His favorites were (and still are) bananas, buttered noodles, steamed veggies of almost any kind, and baked apples and peaches.
For the veggies, I have a Pampered Chef steamer and I would steam a bag of frozen veggies, take ours out and put his back in the microwave for a few minutes longer to make them softer. I baked apples and peaches or nectarines with a little bit of butter and cinnamon, sometimes a sprinkle of sugar, and cut them into cubes.
Maybe you should just go with the Baby Led Solids/Baby Led Weaning approach. https://www.wholesomebabyfood.com/babyledweaning.htm
I don't know much about it but I know a couple of people who skipped puree's and did this and have been happy with it. Might be worth looking into since you say he wants to feed himself.
Thanks for the great suggestions! We haven't tried any other finger foods yet, because I wasn't sure what he could tolerate, but I am excited to try new things with him.
My neighbor was feeding her twins black beans and gave one to Evan, and he made the most hilarious yucky face and then spit it out. He did enjoy holding them. We are happy that he is enjoying the yogurt melts and hope he will enjoy other food too. Just need to find a few he likes, then a few more and so on.

Basically anything I can cut up or is small enough and soft enough for DS. He currently has 4 +1/4+1/8 teeth, but started when he was around 7 months trying to self feed. What didn't work then, works now. Some kids like to gnaw and don't mind things not really soft. DS didn't initially like it if he couldn't tongue it apart. he'd mush it and suck it and then spit it out. he just didn't get the using of his teeth yet. If it has a skin on it, many kids won't eat it all. The beans may have been that way for your DS.
