I think we all have someone we know who is like this (or are you like this? 
)
Don't get me wrong, I have my iPhone w/ me most of the day. I check it when I can & when appropriate. But I have a friend who is beyond obnoxious about her phone & email. It's a major problem within her marriage in fact - because she can't step away from the phone/email/job and be with her family.
Anytime I joke about it, she gets *super* defensive - so I know I can't really say much or else I will face her wrath.
So...what do you do? Tell these people flat out: "you're being a rude a-hole"...?

I don't know anyone like this.
While MrBunny and myself are pretty bad, my FIL takes the cake. He is horrible.
Last year at thanksgiving (was it last year that the Tiger Woods debacle started?) we were all going out to dinner and he forgot his hearing aids. When he asked my SIL to go back so he can grab them she told him flat out "only if you promise to actually participate in conversation like a member of the family".
I was in the backseat with my jaw on the floor moments away from letting out a "daaaaum".
"It's a child, not a cheeto" Thanks mmariluh!
"Ew. I've read all of two posts from you, and you stink like rotting garbage."
this friend of mine misses out on a LOT because she can't put it down. There have been times where we are all together & her kids are having a great time and I'm like "hey let's get a pic of the kids!" and I look over, and she has no idea what is going on. She is checking her email.
The sad part to me is that the kids totally pick up on it. I have to wonder how she will one day explain to her kids they cannot bring their phone to the dinner table like Mommy.
I'm giggling b/c when we were all at GC's all the phones were beeping & going off & we were all running for them. Me included! LOL!
But none of us were outside of what I would consider normal. I'm talking people who literally will be in mid-convo with you at a dinner & whip out the phone and blatantly stop listening to you.
