Can we talk strollers?

Sorry in advance if this has been posted but I did look. This is our first baby and I'm really clueless about baby related gear/furniture.

What do you recommend? I've looked and I like the orbit and I think the uppa baby (sp?). I don't want something too bulky.

TIA

Re: Can we talk strollers?

  • After going to BRU yesterday we have decided to go with the Graco Quattro Tour Deluxe travel system, and a jogger (BOB Revolution possibly) since DH and I both run. I know several people say to stay away from Travel Systems, but it seems to be the best option for us and after pushing several around and lots of research I chose the Graco.

  • Hey! You're from my local board =)

We had a Chicco travel system when DS was a baby and I really liked it. We went on a long road trip when he was about 5 months old and we switched him into his convertible car seat then and bought a Joovy Kooper instead of taking his travel system because we were pressed for space. He's almost 2 and we still use his Joovy almost everyday. I really can't say enough about it.

If I were to do it all over again I would just buy the infant carrier and a stroller frame and the Joovy. We didn't use the travel system much after he started going in the other stroller.

  • 2 of my best friends have the UPPA Baby..but I had always told them I thought it was ridicously expensive...I don't want to sound like a hyprocrit but my husband loves the UPPA Baby...so I don't know what to do now! It does look nice and rides smoothly...but I always thought that I would just get the travel system stroller. Let me know what you decide because this is a toughy!

  • we had a snap n go for when DS was little, a peg perego aria to use as our lightweight (i got it on superclearance), and a jogger.

this time i have a maclaren triumph double and will be getting a bob revolution duallie. i figure we'll make it work with 2 strollers or babywearing when the baby is still in the infant seat. or we'll just buy the infant seat adapter for the bob.

  • Before the baby is born, we've decided to get the Graco snap n go and a BOB for running/exercise.  Then we will get a lightweight, non-snap n go stroller later on.

  • Yesterday, DH and I bought the bumbleride indie - I LOVE it!  We got a good deal so we couldn't say no.  We didn't intend to do so much purchasing yesterday!

  • I have an uppababy vista and love it. The only thing I don't like about it is the add on seat does not recline. I had a graco with my first born and I hated it. I wish I would have bought the uppababy first. I am thinking about selling the vista to get the Britax Bready as I will have 2 that will need to ride and the 2nd seat needs to recline.

  • I think the best thing to do is to find a great lightweight stroller that can snap a car seat into.  I really wish I had stayed away from the travel systems.

I will say, stay far far far away from the Orbit.  My cousin had one and she said it was the biggest waste of money.  She said it was awful.

Me three! We like it a lot - I'm hoping to use it with the rumble seat for baby #2. BTW - the car seat adapter is easy and works well. I used it tons for the first 5 months (had the Chicco KeyFit car seat).

  • We just bought a mountain buggy urban jungle.  I LOVE it.  It can be used as a jogger, which is great because DH and I are both runners.  However, unlike most joggers, the front wheel doesn't have to be fixed so it allows for easy maneuverability.  We also bought the adapter for our infant carseat to use it as a travel system.  The baby bargains book gave it high reviews.  (I highly recommend that book for all things baby.)

  • We are between the Orbit and the Bugaboo Chameleon. We went to look yesterday and I think we are leaning towards the Orbit. The reviews on it are great and it's very compact and easy to travel with. The Bugaboo seems so clunky and big. I love the Orbit carseat too... I think we are going to go with that! Good luck to you!

  • I have the Uppa Baby (I actually won it!) and I love it.  It's lightweight, not bulky and handles wonderfully. It's the only stroller I have and I really don't see us ever buying a another.  I have the carseat attachment, so that I could just clip DS in.  He never liked the bassinet attachment, so that was never used.

We plan to buy the Rumble seat so both babies can ride.

The only things I don't like are:

-there is no snack tray (I bought one at TRU that screws on, so that takes care of that)

-The cup holder you can buy for Uppa sucks, so don't bother.

-and I wish the seat could be more upright, but apparently they remedied that in the new model.

    good luck!

  • We are going with a Graco Travel System.  My friend has one and so far it is the easiest stroller to operate that has what I want. ;)

  • We got a Graco travel system when he was little (the Snugride snapped in) - it was a Metrolite stroller, I think. And when he was older we got a Maclaren Triumph for his umbrella stroller - awesome stroller, I recommend it.
  • I love my bob revolution!!! The snap and go is great for infants.
