No cravings here...normal?

Throughout the pregnancy, I've had no real cravings.  I've listened to my friends share stories about their pregnancies and how they craved this and that but it just hasn't happened to me.  Mexican food and ice cream always sound good but that's pretty normal for me, even before getting pregnant.  Anyone else not craving anything in particular or am I just weird?

Re: No cravings here...normal?

  • I'm not really.  Usually it is more irrational aversions to foods I used to like.

I am craving ice a lot though, but that is likely because I am anemic.

  • I'm with you.  I can only think of two specific times where I would say I was actually craving something in a way that I wouldn't have craved it while not pregnant.  Once was in the first tri, and it was cupcakes.  The other time was in 2nd tri, and it was cookies.

my appetite and tastes have been otherwise completely normal.  How boring is that?!

  • There are a lot of things I enjoy eating, but nothing different from pre-pregnancy, so I would not consider them cravings.  I have never had that "oh my god, I have to go to the store for pickles/ice cream/whatever RIGHT NOW" feeling.

This might change when I run out of Cadbury Christmas Balls...

  • Sounds like I should try these Cadbury Christmas Balls.  Coincidentally, there's a Cadbury factory just a short distance west of where I live.  Wonder if they offer tours?  LOL

  • I absolutely LOVE food and just love eating in general, so I've always gotten "cravings" for something (such as, ooooh Chinese sounds good tonight! and I'll literally drive 20 minutes to go out of town to get it).  The only difference now is that I can chalk my "cravings" up to being pregnant.  The only thing though is that, before I got pregnant, I HATED hot dogs, and now I love them (I just have to make sure I get them really well cooked).  Otherwise, I'm kind of like you - no weird cravings or anything, just the same old stuff I've always loved :)

  • I dont think I have cravings.... I can eat pizza and spaghetti every day but I was that way before.  I do eat a lot of cereal but I think rather then a craving it is more a combo of nothing sounds good/I dont want to cook....  I am with another poster though in that meals that I want and then start to eat are just not good and become a food aversion for the rest of the pg rather than a craving -- I think it is because I dont want to get sick,....
  • This is me exactly...even down to the Mexican food and ice cream. After the first trimester having been as sick as I was, I was just so happy to be ABLE to eat again. Since then I haven't had one craving or strange food combinations that most pregnancy stories include. Additionally, if I didn't make a concious effort to eat, well and often, I don't think I'd even eat as much as I do. I have no desire to over-eat either. This has always been normal for me too.
  • I'm with ya 100%! More often than not, I can't seem to find anything that sounds appetizing at all. I find myself eating cereal & carbs a lot of the time just so I'm eating something.
  • No cravings here either. I'm just really suggestable. I see something or hear about something and suddenly I want it.

  • I haven't really had any cravings, either.  No more than I normally would not pg.

  • I have not had any cravings. I almost feel cheated since I thought being pregnant would give me an excuse to eat anything without anyone giving me the side eye. Now my DH on the otherhand...
  • The only thing I really crave is HOT CHOCOLATE :)

    and sometimes

    Pizza!!!

  • Definitely more aversions than cravings.

But I love anything peppermint right now. Like peppermint mochas and peppermint bark from Williams Sonoma etc.
