DD sleeps in her arms reach cosleeper right next to me. On chilly nights, I will put her blanket in with her and put it no higher than her hips. This morning I caught her with it over her face. She was breathing fine and everything but it scared the crap out of me. We are moving her to her own room and crib next weekend. I definitely will not put her in her crib with her blanket. So, I was reading the Aden & Anais are 'breathable.' For those that have them or have used them, do you feel comfortable leaving DC in their crib with this blanket? (I'm talking about the blanket, not swaddle since DD has been swaddled since 6w-she hates swaddle). She sleeps in her Halo sleep sack but sometimes she still gets a little cold. So I was wondering about these. Thanks for your help.

Re: Tell me about Aden & Anais blankets please...
Have you considered fleece sleepsacks? On cold nights I put a cotton sleep and play under the fleece sleepsack.
As for the original topic, yes A&A are breathable material and awesome! However, I don't find them to be very warm...
Yes, she sleeps in Halo sleepsacks...when it's warm, cotton...colder, fleece..and always with her nightgown and socks underneath. But even so, sometimes she still gets a little cold. She likes it warm. So, that's why I was looking into the A&A.
Thanks ladies, I'll be going to get DD A&A today and try them out!
Umm...yeah....again, we use the fleece sleepsacks and she's also dressed in a gown with socks underneath. She seems to still like it warmer when it's cold outside. So, that's when I've been using a blanket on top and was inquiring about the A&A.
Thanks but we already dress her in her pj's and socks and a fleece sleep sack and she still likes it warmer when it's cold outside. I don't want her to overheat yet she will not sleep at all when she's cold. She seems to like to hold a blanket too. I was hoping the A+A would help me with this since I don't trust her in her crib with a regular blanket.
Hey Everyone,
I had a similar question, so I asked my Pediatrician and she said:
To be safe, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends NO LOOSE BLANKETS in the crib with your baby!!
Besides, the Aden and Anais blankets are very lightweight and are really an option for summer and when it's very warm. They will not keep your baby warm when the air temp is colder.
Additionally, "Breathable," when referenced to fabric, does NOT mean it is OK to have the blanket LOOSE in the crib. Breathable fabric doesn't mean it's okay to have it cover your baby's face!!!! It can still trap CO2. Rebreathing CO2 is a risk factor for SIDS. Additionally, these blankets - if used LOOSE- are so huge and so thin they could become all bunched up in a fluffy pillowy ball (dangerous suffocation hazzard) or become an entanglement hazzard. References to "Breathable" fabric means moisture is easily released from sweating due to evaporation, so any cotton fabric is "breathable!"
Your baby is over 5 months old which means she is at an active age and able to roll over. You are best to put her in a wearable blanket or jammies. Find one with a TOG rating that's right for your room temperature. NO LOOSE BLANKETS.
You don't want to overheat your baby, BUT you don't want your baby to get too cold either. It is NOT better for them to be cool. My Pediatrician says that is risky for babies too.
My Pediatrician recommended I touch my baby's stomach or back to make sure he is warm and dry. She says if he is warm and dry he is just right. If he is sweaty I should remove a layer, and if he is too cold I should add a layer. She also told me not to trust any products that say they will regulate my baby's temperature. She told me to dress him in same amount of clothes as me and touch him to be sure he's warm. You could simply add another light layer like Hanna Anderssen jammies under the sleep sack or use a slightly warmer (higher TOG) fuzzy fleece wearable blanket.
I suppose everyone needs a soapbox issue.
