Hospital Choice - Rowlett/Rockwall

I love my doctor.  She has been my gyno since I first started going to the gyno.  However, she only operates out of Lake Pointe Hospital in Rowlett and Presbyterian Hospital in Rockwall.

Initially, I wanted to give birth at Presby.  It is newer.  The rooms are bigger, brighter and nicer.  Plus, I know a nurse who works there (not in labor & delivery thought) and my friend gave birth their and had a great experience.  However, they don't have a NICU.  So far, I haven't had any problems, but I am only 12 weeks.

I didn't want to give birth at Lake Pointe because it doesn't have the best reputation.  However, they have a brand new NICU, and they have really been working to improve their reputation.  Plus, my doctor would be the one delivering and I trust her completely.  On the down side, the rooms are smaller and darker and not as welcoming. I don't want to sound snooty, but if I'm going to be spending a few days somewhere, I'd like to be comforatable.

If you are from Rowlett/Rockwall and have given birth at either Lake Pointe Hospital in Rowlett or Presbyterian Hospital in Rockwall, please let me know your experience.

  • I live in Rockwall and I drove to Presby Dallas because I didnt want to deliver at either hospital you mentioned. Presby Rockwall was brand new around the time I had my son. I also wanted the NICU just in case. I also have heard bad things at both hospitals. I had a great experience at Presby Dallas.
