I am thinking ahead again. Madi is at an in-home daycare and I felt it was probibaly customary to get the 2 ladies that take care of my baby a gift for Christmas. But what?
I think it is customary, but I'm with you, I have no idea what to get them! Plus, Madeline has 4 teachers I have to buy for...yikes! What is an appropriate amount to spend on each? Or would a homemade gift and/or baked goods be sufficient?
Last year I had to buy for 4 ladies. I went to blockbuster and got a $5 gift card and one of those ready to pop tubs of popcorn. Then I went to the dollar store and got a couple of boxes of candy for each and wrapped them up in xmas design celophane. So I guess I spent about $50. This year we are at a different daycare and the director said they were going to put something out where the teacher could put their favorite hobby, color, etc. So we may be able to get an idea from that. I heard never get anything that says anything like world's best or greatest "teacher". haha
be careful with baked goods. I know my daycare has a policy on bringing food in. I know in the infant rooms you can bring in baby food but as the kids get older you can't bring in any food because of allergies.
A really nice scented candle, a picture frame, some nice coffee with a little mug, homemade hot chocolate mix in a nice jar, some nice scented lotion. Pending how old the workers are, a nice cookbook. These are just ideas that I've come up with that are my "go to" gifts.
We also go to an "in-home" sitter. But, there is only one sitter and the only three kids there, including the sitter's own son.
Last year we got the sitter's son an appliqued t-shirt with his name on it and we have the sitter a $50 target giftcard. This year, we got the little boy a remote control car for toddlers and will probably get another giftcard for the sitter.

All the parents in DS's day care class are contributing $20 each for our two main teachers' gifts. I can't remember if it was decided to buy... The center did a fundraiser for monetary gifts for floating teachers. I think I will give a $10 gift to my favorite floating teachers & have to think of what...
