I had a doctor's appt. last night and the doctor called the hospital to schedule my induction. (My blood pressure keeps rising, right now it's at 138/94) Anyway, when she was talking to them, I heard her say the reason for the induction was "pregnancy-induced hypertension." I didn't think anything of it right then b/c I do have high blood pressure.
Well, I'm reading my "What to Expect" book before bed last night and they have a section on pre-eclampsia and in parentheses it says "pregnancy induced hypertension." Is it the exact same thing? I'm confused because a friend of mine was diagnosed with pre-e and they did an emergency c-section right away. My doctor's letting me go two more weeks.
Re: Do I have pre-e or not??
No they are not the same thing. You have to have 3 thing to have pre-eclampsia; protein in your urine, edema/swelling, and BP increase at over 20 weeks when you were normotensive before.
this!
Natural M/C at 7 weeks 9.17.08 Natural M/C at 7 weeks 2.1.13

ditto. Its just high BP.
But can turn into pre-e, so that's probably why t hey are inducing you.
pre-e is protein in your urine over 300, swelling and consistant bp of 140/90.
I'm glad you dont have it!! Its much worse! Glad they are inducing before it gets bad!
