braxton hicks @ 2nd trimester?

Hey guys, aside from my very stressful day today I've noticed Ive been having braxton hicks on and off tonight. Is that common to have on the  2nd trimester? Also had some mild cramping but i think its bc with the stressful day, not drinking enough and not resting as much as i normally do in one day has caused it. Spoke to my nurse, she tells me to lay down which I'm doing now and drink as well..and that if it doesn't go away in an hour to go to ER. I'm sure i'll be ok but just wondering if anyone else gets them on their 2nd trimester. Also, from everyone's experience and what your doctor have told you, whats the EARLIEST twins can be born that they'll be ok? I hear 3 diff answers from OB, nurse and peri!

  • Ive read that you can start having BH when you are 6 weeks all the way till the end...so i dont think i would worry about it too much...if thats all it is BH, just remember to rest plenty!

  • happened to me at 17 wks. I was dehydrated and it was a bad day for me too.  Time to take it easy.

  • BH started for me at about 24 weeks, and continued right up until delivery at 37 weeks.  I went into L&D on 3 separate occasions because of too many BH combined with a shortening cervix, and was on bedrest from 26 weeks on, so you just never know.  Definitely drink tons of water, lie on your left side, and take it easy.

As for when they can be born and "be OK"...that's  tough question, and I'm not an expert.  I'll let someone else answer that.

  • It happened to me last night (18w)... long, stressful day and I did too much.  Resting and drinking water is the best way to help.
