This is the 2nd night in a row. Last night I was crying, tonight I just sneezed a few times. To me there is a lot of blood, but I think these may be my first ever bloody nose. Ever. Maybe once with Oisin, but I don't think so.
I sneezed so I want to blow my nose. Good? Bad? WTF do I do here? I know what tell someone if they have a random bloody nose, but should I do the same? Tilt back, squeeze, ice pack? OK to take my allergy medicine? Will it dry me out and make this worse?
Re: Talk to me about bloody noses
Never back, always forward. Pinch on the bridge, and catch whatever comes out with a tissue. It should stop in a short amount of time, but don't be surprised if you see it start and stop. Only if there is a constant FLOW (running out of your nose) should you be concerned enough to hit the ER.
Edit- Saline Nasal Sprays are very effective in reducing/eliminating bloody noses from repeating.
All of this, and don't blow your nose unless you have to. If it is starting to clot you could blow out the clot with the blowing.
If it's becoming a regular occurence I'd probably see about using some saline spray throughout the day to keep it from getting too dry.

OK, saline spary. I'll pick some up. Tilting forward is good to know.
see, I came on last night to ask all of these questions.
I had them almost everyday when I was pregnant. Usually mine were in the morning. Sometimes it was a lot, sometimes it wasn't. My dr said it is just a combination of dry air from being inside and extra blood putting pressure on the blood vessels.
Do all the normal stuff for a bloody nose, but keep kleenex with you just in case it happens randomly.
NO! Not forward either, that will increase the pressure. Hold you head upright in the "normal" position. Pintch just below the bridge of the nose for at least 5 mins. Don't blow. Saline spray/humidifier = good.
You can also try ice with compression.
I wouldn't worry about the amount of blood loss unless you felt dizzy or faintish.
Yea don't lean forward or back.
I had turbinate surgery when I was a teenager and thanks to that I still get bloody noses if I don't keep up with the saline spray. That shiit is a godsend.
"It's a child, not a cheeto" Thanks mmariluh!
"Ew. I've read all of two posts from you, and you stink like rotting garbage."
Hmmmm. I need to go have a conversation with the nurse who taught our first aid/cpr class this summer.
