I was because of a history of congenital heart defects in the sweet babies born into my maternal side of the family. Has anyone else's MD recommended they get one? I can't remember what week my MD said and I'm trying to plan. I'll call tomorrow, but now I'm curious and google is not answering my question.

Re: Anyone else recommended to have a fetal echocardiogram?
I was as well. Mine is starting at 20wks. My reason is rather traumatic though. I had a son in April who had an irregular heartbeat and past away 7 days after he was born.(not due to the irregular heartbeat) Now I'm 12wks! I'm high risk and my doctors are being very cautious with me. Good luck to you and it's for the best!
***Sending hugs to you and baby***
I am so sorry for your loss. Best wishes for a H&H 9 months.
I think it depends what her defect was. If she had a patent ductus arteriosis or atrial septal defect I don't think they recommend an echo because those are normal physiological elements in a fetus's heart. However, they still might want to do it to check for other issues. I would definitely ask if your physician has not brought it up.
Thank you! 18 weeks did seem early, but I thought Children's Hospital of Boston would know.
