Babies on the Brain

S/O Sarah Palin

Maybe I'm naive but, even if she does run for president, is there really a serious chance of her being elected?  I don't think because even if she gets the Republican nomination (which will make my head spin with green vomit), I think it would just be handing the election to President Obama.

 Thoughts?

Re: S/O Sarah Palin

  • Lord help us all if she does.  I consider myself a Republican and I can't stand the woman, and neither can any Republican I know.  And whoever does end up with the Rep. nomination would only pick her for VP if they wanted to completely tank the election, or maybe if she's secretly part of the mafia and they owed her a favor for a life type of thing.  She is such a joke, even more now than she was in 2008.

  • I don't see it happening.  I am skeptical that she even get the nomination.  I think that there is a large part Republican base supporting her, it is probably not large enough.  Romney will be in it again and we'll see who else jumps in, although I think Romney may not be conservative *enough* for the GOP this go around.
  • My fellow Americans have surprised me before so I wouldn't put it completely in the realm of not going to happen ever.  Which is sad.

  • I generally vote Republican and I would probably have to seriously consider moving out of the country if she ever was President.

IMO, she won't get through primaries if she decides to run, and no sane candidate would chose her as a running mate.

That's why I like Romney.  I voted for him in 2008 and I'll do it again.  I don't want someone who is polarizingly one political bias or another.  I'd like to see a nice fiscally conservative, moderate Republican in the White House in 2012.

  • I think that, based on the number of people who are either regretting voting for Obama in 2008 or who are unhappy with where the country is currently at, whoever wins the republican bid for president will have a good chance of beating Obama.

That is, of course, assuming that Obama will be running in 2012.

Why would you assume otherwise?   The last sitting President not to run for a 2nd term was LBJ, I believe.

  • More importantly, how is Bristol Palin still on DWTS?

I didn't mean to imply that I was assuming otherwise. Nor did I mean to imply that I think he shouldn't. You really can't deny that it is a possiblity that he won't run again. He's in no way obligated to.

Of couse he isn't obligated.  And of course this is a possiblity that her won't run again.  But I wouldn't ever assume someone who is an incumbent and within their term limits, won't be running unless I hear otherwise.  Since he hasn't said he isn't running, I assume he is.

I would be less inclined to assume Obama won't run for re-elect and more inclined to believe and Democrat may run against him.  THAT is a much more real possibility IMO

  • Even though I don't think she would actually get elected if she somehow managed to get the nomination (and I may be a Democrat, but I have more respect for the average Republican's intelligence than to think that would actually happen) - I don't want her even that close to the White House.

I want her up in Alaska, far away from me (sorry anyone from Alaska). And if we could gag her while we're at it, that would be fun.
