Baby against Diaphragm? (possibly TMI)

On three different occasions now over the past week, each following a largish meal, I've had the weirdest thing happen...all of a sudden breathing becomes really difficult, like I've had the wind knocked out of me, to the point where I can barely move...and then I throw up. It is NOT awesomeIck!

This last time, as I'm crying over the toilet (because I'm a big weenie), my DH calls my momma (I'm 32...and I still want my mommy when I'm sick) and she says that it's probably the baby pressing agaisnt my diaphragm and/or stomach and that there wasn't enough room for Claire + bowl of DH's chili...hence the ickiness.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I mean, the heartburn/acid reflux has been bad enough...now this? This is really the first time I've thrown up since being pregnant..I had (don't shoot me) no morning sickness whatsoever....

  • That's why most books I've read says to eat smaller portions and less spicy foods for that very reason. You're body is running out of room, so everything is going to be constricted due to space limitation. I cut down my portion size due to the same issue.

Try eating smaller portions and see if that does the trick:(

  • sometimes I get the feeling of the wind being knocked out of me.  I know LO is lodging herself in my ribs.  I completely understand the heartburn.  Major deal for me right now.  Sorry about the throwing up though.  Guess you'll just have to try eating smaller meals.
  • It happens to me all the time! I can't eat a whole meal at once. I have to eat small amounts throught out the day. If I eat too much then I just throw it right back up. My doc. told me that it's better to eat small amounts through out the day anyway because it will help control my weight (she doesn't want me to gain anymore) and my bloodsuger won't drop or fluctuate too much (I get dizzy).

  • I just saw that you are a soldier. Thank you for your service to Our Country!
  • Something like that happened to me a few weeks ago, too.  I ate a big meal and went to bed a few hours later.  I woke up an hour later choking on vomit (GROSS) and then I projectile vomited across the room.  It was awesome.  It was because I ate too much and then didn't let it settle before going to bed. Our stomachs have no room now!
