I think airfare may be cheaper than marriage counseling.
This. I wont even drive to Dallas for Thanksgiving with a 6 week old who is a perfect angel in the car and leaving the dog at home. You might receive a free ticket to Heaven upon your return

you are brave! we are flying to Jackson because I couldn't take thinking about the extra stops we'd have to make if we drove with C.
Jackson is a piece of cake, we've done it so much now. Luckily, we're able to stop and spend the night there, so we won't be driving non-stop.
I want to fly so badly, but the cost is just out of the question. We'd have to buy three tickets, pay for luggage and board the dogs. Plus no family in Atlanta has a car big enough for two carseats, so we'd have to rent a car.
It sucks donkey balls and I'm polishing my halo already.
We skipped out on the family reunion that's happening this weekend precisely because the logistics of driving to Georgia, finding a place to board the dog and cat, or flying and renting a car were just too much of a pain.
We felt bad about it, but man... Plus, now it's a good thing as DH is sick, and I'm a bit run-down (as is the baby.)

how long does it take you to drive to Jackson with the Kiddo's? How often do you stop?
It takes us between 7 & 8 hours. We leave early in the morning, like 6 a.m. (or a bit before.) Marion usually falls asleep until her normal wake up time, around 7 a.m. We stop for breakfast then (we try to hit up a McDonald's with a playground. There's a great one in McComb.) Then she'll fall back asleep for another hour or two. We stop for lunch around noon and she usually goes back to sleep after that for her nap and wakes up about the time we get there/home.

He will be sooooo regretting that about midway through your journey.
But it might be a good thing because for the forseeable future afterwards you'll be home for the holidays!
