When we went to the ER the other month, they told us that our big boy (24lbs) can use the children's tylenol. Well we have still been using our infant tylenol and motrine, but I was wondering if anyone does use the Children's stuff now. Our guy is 26lbs now (i believe) and has a bad cold and is teething...poor guy. We are almost out so I need to go shopping and wasn't sure what to get. I see a lot of information saying to go by their weight and not the age. But the directions on the children's tylenol says 2 years old. That seems like a huge difference in age to my 11 month old. I left a message with the pediatrician but I was curious who is giving there kids the medicine for "children" and not "infants".
Re: Are you still using infant medicine?
I thought that the infant stuff is just more concentrated, so you don't have to give as much.
From my bottle of infant tylenol (store brand)
From my bottle of children's tylenol (store brand)
- under 2 ask doctor
- 2-3 (24-35 lbs) 1 teaspoon
It's just more liquid for them to take in. In both cases the 2-3 year dosage are getting 160 mg of the active ingredient.Interesting. Thanks!
