Help! DS now has his two bottom teeth and just has started biting while bf'ing. I remember reading something a while back that talked about pulling him towards me until he releases? What else can I do? How long did it take your LO to learn not to bite? Ugh...it hurts.
Re: Help w/Biting while BF'ing
I had a big problem with Charlie biting me for a little while. The technique that seemed to help him knock it off was to actually hold his nose so he'd have to unlatch. You can also just pull them in close, so that their nose is covered by your breast. The point is to make it so that they have to release you in order to breathe. I know it sounds mean, but a mommy whose nipple has been bitten off is also pretty mean
If you go that route, remember to hold him tight to you, otherwise he'll probably yank backwards, and let me tell you - that is painful. Charlie bit me randomly for awhile there. I want to say a little over a month. Now he never does though.
Oh, as far as other tips - make sure you're ending the nursing session when he's done, rather than letting him play on there. A lot of times the biting happens when they're done eating and just goofing around. Also, is he teething? He may just be in pain. Try giving some tylenol or motrin and seeing if that helps.
