Abdominal circumference measuring behind?

I had an u/s yesterday and they measured everything. Everything was measuring right on (+/- a few days) except the abdominal circumference, which was measuring 27w1d...3.5 weeks behind! The tech acted as if it wasn't a huge deal, because the femur was the most accurate way of measuring and it measured right on. When they averaged everything out at the end, it put her at 2 lbs 15 oz (+/- 7 oz) and in the 9th percentile.

I didn't see my OB after my ultrasound, and he hasn't called me. I actually wasn't at all concerned, since everything else was measuring fine, but then...I googled. And of course Google is freaking me out.

Has anyone had an u/s where the stomach measured 3+ weeks behind everything else? Was your OB concerned?

ETA: I just looked up IUGR, which is when a baby is measuring in the 10th percentile or less...and mine is in the 9th. Isn't that kind of a big deal?

I slightly concerned about fundal height measuring so far behind, but ab. circumference can vary between women so much I don't know what it could possibly tell you.

The baby's abdominal circumference. They measured her head, femur, and abdomen through ultrasound, and everything measured at 30.5 weeks except her abdomen, which measured 27w1d.

I dealt with this when my daughter was born with IUGR and am now possibly facing it a second time with this LO. IUGR becomes a concern when baby's total body weight percentile drops below the 10th percentile and the abdomen drops below the 3rd percentile. I started measuring behind with my daughter and had a series of growth ultrasounds every few weeks which showed that her abdomen continued to get further and further behind the rest of her measurements. I also did twice weekly NSTs to be sure that she was doing okay and was induced at 38 weeks. She weighed 5 lbs 13 oz and had a TINY tummy.

This LO's abdominal circumfrence was already measuring 2 weeks behind at my 24 week ultrasound and I go tomorrow for another so we will see what has happened in the last month.

I am sorry you are going through this! I would urge you to bring up your concerns with the doctor and ask what the plan will be should your LO be diagnosed with IUGR. Keep us posted!

Eek, this is what I was worried about! I'm going to call my OB in the morning. Thanks for telling me your experience, now I don't feel crazy for worrying.

Dominic measured behind throughout. I had an ultrasound at 32 weeks and the u/s tech questioned my dates because Dominic was measuring 3 - 4 weeks behind in the measurements (including fundal). Closer to the end of the pregnancy, the fundal height 'caught up.' None of it mattered. He was born healthy (6lbs. 6.5 oz.). He has definitely caught up in the weight department now! He's over 13lbs. at 3 months:)

eta: some babies are just small. Natalie is still in the 5th - 10th percentile, but she couldn't be healthier!

another eta: Good luck talking to your Dr.! I hope it's just a case of a small baby and not IUGR!

Thanks! My older DD is in the 3rd percentile for weight, so hopefully her sister just takes after her.
