She has had a cold since last Thursday but Sunday night it took a turn for the worse and last night I started coming down with whatever she has. Needless to say we are both working on zero sleep...
I have been attempting to take her temperature (anally) and got an error message 3 times in a row. So I hunt down the under the arm thermometer and attempt to take her temp that way... DD proceeds to kick me in the chest and throat- HARD. I mean hard enough to knock the wind out of me.
DD is now strapped into her bouncy chair playing with toys, giggling and watching blue clues. I on the other hand an sitting here trying not to cry.
Update:
DD's "cold" is actually Pink Eye in both eyes and a double ear infection. She is now on oral antibiotics, eye drops and ear drops.
Re: UPDATED- Gahhh!... I give up!
Aww
Sorry you're both sick! That's not fun at all. Al 3 of us were sick just a few weeks ago.
We don't even have a rectal therm! I know it's the most accurate, blah blah but I can't bring myself to do it (nor can DH) plus Dylan wiggles too much now. We have a Braun Ear Therm & it works pretty good! It's fast too.
And.Plus.Also- I just burned the roof of my mouth with steaming hot coffee. Awesome.
Doc just calledand is phoning in a script! So I'll look and see about one of the ear thermometers while I am there. Thanks for the idea and the empathy.
We have this thermometer and it's the same one that our pediatricians use.

I got one of these too! they have them @ Sam's Club for like $24 and my midwives use them too. More accurate than the ear/armpit.
We have this one too! The pediatrician offices uses it, as well as our daycare center.
Sorry to hear you are both sick.
I know the feeling...ever since DD started daycare, we have all been sick as well. Just curious...what would the script be for if your DD has a cold?
We have the same thermometer too. Very easy to use and no need to try to hold the baby still - definitely pick one up. I think ours was $25 at BJ's.
I'm sorry to hear you both are under the weather. DS gave me his cold over the weekend and I think we are both finally feeling better today, thankyousweetbabyjesus. He (and I, lol) both slept great last night, which really helped. Hang in there!
Also, have you tried a neti pot (for you)? I bought one when I was PG, but just used it for the first time. It really cleared me out and made me feel so much better (I'm not taking cold meds because of BFing.)
Happy Birthday, little man. We love you so much!
My favorite money saving tip: I've earned more than $300 in gift cards (Amazon, Starbucks, Southwest!) using SwagBucks for internet searching - and you can too! It's FREE and EASY!
Sorry for brevity I had left out a big chunk of info. We had actually already been to the dr once. Evie was diagnosed with pink eye. However, the dr thought it was viral so he didn't give us a script at that time. But after a day or so it took a massive turn for the worse. DD was running a temp of 102 and had green goo draining from her eyes and her ears!
I made an appointment for first thing this morning and in the meantime the dr called in a script for an antibiotic. Turns out that Evie's "cold" is pink eye in both eyes and a double ear infection. So she is on oral antibiotics, eye drops and ear drops.
I told DH that I needed to go to work today, so he is home with DD even though he is completely out of paid time off for the year.
I sympathize with you. Having a sick baby is the WORST.Hopefully she will bounce back quickly!!
Sean was home sick yesterday and now I have whatever he had. Lets all of us working moms dealing with daycare germs all have a big group hug.
Oh wow, that really sucks. Hope it clears up soon!!!
