Trying to Get Pregnant

Can you recommend a prenatal vitiman for a sensitive stomach?

My doctor told me that I can begin taking prenatal vitimans.  However, she didn't really have a specific recommendation for my sensitive stomach.  Can anyone recommend a good one, before I invest?  The iron in regular multi-vitimans give me aweful stomach pains, unless I take low-iron vitimans.  Is there such a thing as a low/no iron or sensitive prenatal???

  • I have a weak stomach and when I was expecting my son I took Select OB (it is a perscription).  I had no issues with it at all.  Good luck,

  • Not sure about low-iron but I had some issues with finding one that wouldn't upset my stomach. Target pre-natal gummies are working for me now.
  • I just googled it and came up with one from GNC: https://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3334259 .  If you're going to get one without iron just make sure you get extra iron from your diet!
  • I'm taking the Vitafusion gummies from Target too. They don't contain iron.
  • I used to get really sick with my Prenatal, but now I also love the Target gummies. I usually take vitafusion, but I think they now have an up & up version too.  They also make an up & up gummy calcium suppliment that has vitamin D.
  • I have an extremely sensitive stomach too but have been taking the Rainbow Light vitamins for months and not had any problems with it.

Me too. The first brand the doctor prescribed literally made me vomit so I switched to Rainbow Light Vitamins and have had no issues (and they're all natural which I liked too)

  • No advice as far as the vitamin issue (sorry,) but on the iron front, i have a friend who swore by floradix for an iron supplement when she was pregnant. Apparently it was easier to absorb, non-constipating, and easier on her stomach than the regular iron supplements. I think you are fine not having the extra iron while still TTC, but perhaps info to file away for future reference...

  • Just make sure you take it with food, i've learned that the hard way! Makes me feel so horrible on an empty stomach.  I recently got nature Made brand it makes me less nauseated as compared to One-A-Day prenatal vitamins, those make me sick even with food.
  • I take Vitaphil w/no problems. Regular one a day vitamins usually make me vomit within minutes. The Dr. prescribed these & they haven't upset my stomach at all.

Good luck finding one that works for you.

  • Rainbow light vitamins work well!  They contain ginger which is supposed to soothe your stomach.  Also, try taking them at night so they may not upset your stomach as much.  Good luck!
  • I love Target's prenatal gummy vitamins, I can take them anytime and they do not bother my stomach. They have no iron in them, but the rest of the vitamins and such are comparable to One A Day Prenatal. Would recommend them to anyone! Plus, they taste pretty good, too! :)
