Go and Grow is just the formula company's way of scamming people out of more money. ?Stay on regular formula until 12 months and then go to whole (cow's milk). ?
we switched to the go and grow at 9 months and to whole milk at 12 months. Actually i'm not sure how it's a scam because the go and grow was almost $6 LESS a can than the Infant Similac Isomil. So, we gladly switched for the couple months. Our ped told us about it at our appointment and made sure to tell us it's so much cheaper a can. I'd switch, if it's cheaper. maybe it is just our area.
I wasn't going to switch either but after the ped told me about the price difference i was like "sign me up!" HA!
The Go and Grow gave my DD brutal diarrhea. So, we just went right to whole milk. I tried it out at 12mo because it supposedly has more iron and other stuff than milk.
But, if it's causing diarrhea, I don't think she's getting the benefit!
There is no reason to switch unless you want to save money for the 9-12 month period (if it is cheaper, I never looked into it). Once a child hits 12 months they don't need to stay on formula, but can go to whole milk (in fact, we got the ok to switch at 11 months). The formula companies put it out and market it for "up to 24 months" to get another year of formula buying out of parents.

We did the same w/ DD. ?We used the Nestle formula and our Pedi told us the same thing. ?It was cheaper than the regular formula so at 9 months we used that then went to WCM at 12-14 months (DD wouldn't take it at first so we had to mix w/ the formula.)?

You only need to use that formula if your child has a reason to. My DD ended up on it after she became anemic around 18 months old. She was also failure to thrive 3 times and is still 2 pounds under the growth curve for weight. Her BMI is 1%.
Re: When to switch to "Go and Grow" formula?
They are supposed to be on the same formula for a year. After that, you can do cows milk or Go and Grow.
