quick update - and t&p please

hi ladies, just wanted to give you all a quick update - baby was born last night at 10:03pm, weighing in at 7lb 6oz, about 19" long. i'm recovering well - 2 small tears but otherwise, okay. baby - who still doesn't have a name (though we're getting close!) - is in the nicu due to meconium aspiration. long term prognosis is good, but the next few weeks will be rough. he'll probably get worse before he gets better. he's intubated and on morphine right now to keep him sedated (good news is he did come out crying and is a very active little fellow), they're doing all sorts of tests and x-rays and an echo, and are about to put in a chest tube... i've only gotten to hold him for about 20s last night, and it's really hard to see him struggling so much just to breathe. Crying i'm still overwhelmed with so many emotions, and W and I are doing our best to deal with this. at any rate, please send lots of healthy lung vibes our way! i can't wait until we can just snuggle with him and take him home...

Oh, Sandra! I'm happy baby is here, but I'm sorry about the struggles thus far. He sounds like a strong little man, but I can imagine how scary things must be right now. And to be recovering from L&D and dealing with your fluctuating hormones...totally overwhelming. We're sending big hugs and healthy vibes your way. Left Hug

oh hon, I am so sorry to hear that your LO is having a rough start, but like you said prognosis is good so I am sure in no time at all you will be snuggling with your baby boy.

congrats!! your baby does not share a birthday with miss A but guess who he shares a birthday with??? me!!

i am glad to hear that the delivery went well and you are feeling ok. i'm sorry about the meconium aspiration.... i know a little bit how you feel (but not totally) because when my water broke they saw "moderate" meconium in it and told me they'd have to check her after she was born and i was pretty freaked out about it. FWIW i had DH read your post and he said that your LO's case seems pretty mild (he has seen some babies have to go on bypass b/c of it) and like you said the docs are giving him a good prognosis. i will keep him in my t&p though that he recovers quickly and gets to leave the NICU soon... i know that it can't be easy.

hang in there and if you aren't all teary eyed and hormonal yet then prepare yourself...i am sure that with DS going through this it will make it even harder. just know it's normal to feel that way and we are here if you need anything! *big hugs* and congrats again can't wait to hear his name!
