DS LOVES Scout (I think it's a leap frog toy?) and the Fisher Price Sesame Street singing pop up pals. Then again, he really likes the TV remote too! HA!
Jumperoo, stacking cups, anything with different textures that goes in the mouth, things that make noise when she shakes them, drops them on the floor, or pounds them on a table, simple board books with colorful illustrations, photos of family (you can put them in a baby photo album -- Sassy makes one for like $5 on Amazon).

Anything that plays songs, or makes noises she loves!
OMG, THIS. DD loves hers. And her Leapfrog musical table. [Thanks to Yankee and Lmpdjc for the recommendations.]
Bruce loves his Fisher Price Classic pull-behind chatter telephone.
It's for 12mo.+, but we just supervise him. He is fascinated.
