Hi, ladies!
I am not pregnant yet, but going to be TTC very soon and am starting to research my diapering options (really early, I know, but I am really excited!). I am very interested in cloth diapers (DH is on board, too
) and I have been looking at several brands but am most interested in Rumparooz so far. I like the one size option. But, I was wondering has anyone used these? I have read on a blog that these are one of the best options for newborns because of the double gusset. Have you found this to be true? Did you get a lot of leaks in the beginning? Any advice/tips are greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Re: Rumparooz?
Before buying mine I watched some very positive user video reviews on youtube, even some showing two year old toddlers that fit in them great. I have also read that they are low on the rise for some babies too. So, like all diapers it depends on the fit of your LO. What works for some might not work for others. Alot of times you'll be advised to see what works for you and your LO before you invest too much in one diaper.
With that said we love our rumparooz. They fit our DD at starting at 6 weeks (which is when we ordered them). So far they are great in function and fit... and I just hope we don't fall victim of the low rise. GL!
At that age, I loved our RaRs a lot! I hope the rise doesn't become an issue for you.
I agree - you definitely don't want to buy a whole bunch of any one kind until you see how they work with your LO. You don't want to put all your eggs in one basket, so to speak.
I thought RaR would be my go-to diaper and would be my whole stash.
They're fantastic, the double gusset really is all that. But like a PP said, the rise is low. DD is around 18 pounds and 4 months old, and she's almost completely unsnapped. There is no way these are going to fit her until potty training. I don't reach for mine much anymore.
That said, they easily fit her at 10 pounds (2 weeks!) when we started CDing.
Honestly, every baby is different. There are a ton of good one-size diapers on the market. I've found I like other diapers more for my baby. Do not make the mistake of buying a ton of diapers of one type/brand. Chances are, you'll end liking others more!
For the newborn phase, I preferred fitteds and prefolds, and also used some hybrids, which also worked very well. We've been in one-size diapers pretty much exclusively since she was around 8 weeks old, and around 14-15 pounds (could've been earlier but I was still deciding on my stash.)

They fit my 8lb dd from the beginning. No leaks.
However, I've had washing problems with them that have not been a problem for any of my other diapers. I'm not sure if its the material combined with my water/detergent or what. Other fleeces come clean though.
They fit my 7'11 pounder at birth. I LOVE them, especially for NB poop.
that being said, the rise is super short. I had it all they way unsnapped at 3 months. They still fit her though, so we shall see how long they last.
Matthew is almost 9 months and my RaR are my go to diaper with MIL. They fit great and are still my favorite.
I loved RAR for my older son. We didn't start CDing with him til about 15 months and they fit him fine, he wore them til he was almost two I think. He was only CD'd PT because of daycare and when he started getting really verbal he refused CD's, only wanted the sposies... I am hoping to start #2 as a newborn and not have to deal with the same problems as DS1 had.
They fit my DD from birth, but she's almost grown out of them on the rise.
I will echo the others in saying that until your baby is here, don't buy one type of diaper exclusively and hope that they work. Someone recently had bought a whole stash of one brand of diapers and they didn't work for her at all.
I will also say, as someone who struggled to conceive, that it might be best to wait until you are actually pregnant to start buying diapers. New versions/colors/prices are always coming out.
